Native to the south and southwest Asia, Black Cumin or Nigella Sativa is an unpopularized herb to the present, but is believed to be used by the Middle-East, Africa and Roman empires as both spice and medicine. The name “Nigella” is derived from the Latin word “Niger” meaning black referring to its seeds. Black cumin oil is extracted by the cold pressing the seeds. This oil consists of chemical components such as Thymoquinone, Thymol, Thymohydroquinone, Caryophyllene, A-Pinene and B-Pinene. The oil is said to possess Characteristics such as Anti- inflammatory, Ant-fungal, Anti-cancer and Anti-oxidant properties.
