The avocado is a tree, classified as a member of the flowering plant family- Lauraceae. The fruit of the plant, is botanically a large berry containing a single large seed known as a “pit” or a “stone”. Avocado oil is cold pressed from the fruit. As edible oil, it is used as an ingredient in other dishes. It is also used for lubrication and in cosmetics- where it is valued for its supposed regenerative and moisturizing properties.
